With big-brand names including Google, Facebook, Samsung and PlayStation launching state-of-the-art offerings in Virtual Reality technology, today we showcase a new addition to GWI’s survey on current consumer interest in VR tech.

As our chart makes clear, it’s younger groups which will lead the charge here – the younger someone is, the more likely they are to be interested in VR. That said, it’s still almost 1 in 5 from the 55-64 age group who are interested in this tech.

We see some particularly strong scores from certain key audiences, with smartwatch owners being 66% more likely to have an interest in using VR. Elsewhere, with obvious integrations with gaming entertainment and visual marketing campaigns, it’s encouraging that 1 in 2 gamers and branded video viewers are eager to get their hands on VR tech.

Affordability may stand in the way of many potential VR users (something Google Cardboard is working to counteract) but there’s no doubting the decent levels of interest in this new technology.
